We made it through the Spring Training slate and the World Baseball Classic without any major injuries. Guys, clap it up.

Mets About Town

Mr. & Mrs. Met were flocking around NYC (as one does) on St. Paddy’s Day. While the Mets’ traditional colors are blue, white, and orange, the power couple was dressed in the colors of the flag of Ireland. Mr. Met is a man of many talents, but I was unfamiliar with his skills as a stepdancer. I always had a feeling that Mr. Met’s surname was anglicized from O’Met, and this all but confirms it.

The dress rehearsal is over and we’re ready for the 2026 Major League Baseball season to begin. Not much to write home about in terms of Laundry Lines this spring, as it was just a contest between the pinstriped pants and the gray pants. The Mets performed slightly better on the road, so we’ll see how that trend continues, especially since the 2025 Mets finished 13 games below .500 on the road.

Spring Record: 0-0-1

The one deviation to the Mets’ spring threads was the 2026 St. Patrick’s Day hat. The Metropolitans wore this hat for one day only. The game, which ended in a tie, wasn’t even televised, making it hard to determine if they were lucky, unlucky, or just present.

That’s all for this week! Join us on Thursday for a special installment of The Rally Towel on Opening Day and next Sunday for another edition of Mets Laundry.
