It’s March! There is baseball on TV! Spring is right around the corner! Despite the fact that there is still a significant amount of snow on the ground in the Tri-State area, it’s time to bust out your favorite baseball swag.

Welcome to season 2 of Mets Laundry, The Rally Towel’s weekly newsletter focusing on New York Mets uniforms, hats, gear, and fan wearables. Mets Laundry will be scrubbed, pressed, and found neatly folded in your inbox every Sunday.

Updated Spring Training Caps

I absolutely loved this logo from the second it leaked last winter and I never stopped loving it. There is plenty of time to take things seriously when the season actually starts. Spring Training should embrace the excitement and joy of celebrating the end of the worst season (winter), and the beginning of the best season (baseball).

The sunglasses-adorned Mr. Met logo is back on the 2026 Spring Training caps along with a few updates.

This year’s caps feature the 2026 Grapefruit League patch on the side panel and a grapefruit blossom near the main graphic on the front panel. This cap is definitely busier than the 2025 version, which I don’t love, but there are some elements that I dig.

Looks aside, the physical fit is where I have questions. I’m not sure what material or knit was used in the crown of the cap last year, but it was extremely stiff and tight. I bought my normal fitted size for this hat and it still feels too tight to this day. It appears that this year’s spring training lid has a different style of crown. Unfortunately, I can’t comment on it (great journalism!) because I haven’t seen one in person and I can’t justify a $56 pre-season hat when I just bought one last year.

The other thing I really like about this hat is the easter egg under the visor where each team’s spring training home is stitched.

It’s not even a question that the Mets have the most fun hat in the New Era lineup. What do you think?

Laundry Lines

Laundry Lines is where we tally the team’s wins and losses by each uniform combination. Baseball folk are among the most superstitious people on the planet and we’re looking to answer, once and for all, whether or not the Mets suck in black uniforms (answer: they don’t).

The 2025 Mets Laundry year in review can be found here! As always, a gigantic shout out to Ian at Birdhaus Art for doing the graphics. He’s one helluva battery mate.

Spring Training is a bit of a mess when it comes to keeping track of things here. The featured home AND away jersey is the Alternate Blue away jersey, which was introduced last year. With that in mind, we’ll be tracking two uniform combos.

Spring Training Home
-Alternate Blue Away jersey
-Home pinstriped pants
-Spring Training cap

Spring Training Away
-Alternate Blue Away Jersey
-Away gray pants
-Spring Training cap

Through 9 Spring Training games, the Mets are 5-3-1 with a perfect 4-0 record on the road and a suspect 1-3-1 record at home. Hopefully the striped pants start to pick it up!

That’s all for this week! Join us next Sunday for another edition of Mets Laundry.
